Izabella's Fairy Woodland Themed Birthday Party

It's my beautiful niece Izabella's 2nd birthday coming up in August. The theme is a Woodland Fairy party so here are some ideas for the perfect set up!

My Guide to a Woodland Fairy Party

Every fairy party needs fairy dust...just add some glitter to tightly sealed jars and puncture some holes through the jar lids to allow the fairy dust to come out when sprinkled. Definitely something for outside!

Tree stumps make great 'little person' seats and look even more the part when the tops are painted like toadstools. If you don't have any old trees lying around to chop up, (most of us don't) then contact a local tree lopping company to see if you can pick up some stumps of them before they mulch them.

A giant teepee makes the best fairy home! To make a base you will need three sturdy poles, you could probably find something useful at Bunnings and get some rope to bind the poles together at the top.
Alternatively you could get a mosquito net and hang that from a tree and spread the netting out where it touches the ground or a third option is to tie a rope from one tree to the next and peg sheets from the rope to the ground so it resembles a tent shape. Which ever way you choose, just decorate with bits of fabric, branches, fairy lights and feathers for a magical feel.

Fairy lights, pom poms and garlands add magic to any party!

Toadstool cupcakes are perfect for a fairy party and to decorate your table try using sheets of sushi paper for a grass like effect. You can cut them into the shape of a leaf.

Nothing beats bubble blowing to keep kids entertained...

Wedding Plans

In between looking after our bubs, long weekends enjoying the sunshine, preparing for Little Paper Crane's Biggest Morning Tea and then enjoying our first Mothers Day last Sunday, we have also been busy organising the upcoming wedding that we are styling in July!

Our bride has decided upon a romantic, maroon/deep red and ivory colour scheme, with a touch of gold, which will beautifully compliment the grand demeanour of their venue, which is located at a Gold Coast hinterland winery. These rich colourings will also add warmth to the reception, a contrast to the cool winter evening air at that time of the year.

Below are some of the pictures that we found that have inspired some of the decorative decisions we have made with our bride so far. We love the romantic, deep red hues of the Moulin Rouge poster, pictured below, which hold the exact colour scheme and feel that we are working towards!

In Need Of Some Creative Direction?

We were thrilled when a friend asked us recently to offer some creative direction and help her plan and prepare for her upcoming wedding. We both have a passion for styling and decorating and let's face it, which girl doesn't love a wedding! Watch this space though for more updates on the upcoming event, as we share some inspiration and ideas - without giving too much away!

There are so many gorgeous options for styling a wedding. For example, a rustic or contemporary chic theme, to a theme that mirrors the season of the event, or a classic colour scheme, such as black and white or vintage pastels.  For today's post we thought we'd show you some of our faves!

Freddy's 1st Birthday

Where has the year gone? I can't believe our little man is turning 1 on Sunday!! This week I will be busily preparing things for his party. I have so many ideas, but have to restrain myself. I need to remember that there will be many more parties and I want to try and keep this one simple. After all he is still our little "baby boy".
